On Sunday 12 January 2025, our team travelled to Laanaceur, in the province of Sefrou, to receive clothes, blankets and shoes collected in Casablanca. The donations were intended for the families of Zaouia Sidi Rahou and the surrounding villages, which are particularly exposed to the cold in winter.
A youth-led initiative
The operation was part of a solidarity caravan called “Warm Winter” (“Hiver au chaud”). It was initiated by the high-school students of the Leo Club Fès Alnour. Experts Bénévoles pour le Développement and the JIBER Association of Sefrou provided guidance and supervision: identifying beneficiaries, logistics and coordination with local stakeholders.
Contributors
Two Casablanca-based associations made the collection possible: the Abi Association for orphan care and the Al Naim Charity Association.
Distribution
Clothes, blankets and food were distributed on Saturday 18 January 2025 to the registered families.
What this project shows
This operation illustrates our brokering role: connecting motivated young people, donors and grassroots associations, and providing the supervision needed for aid to reach the right people.
